The Farmers Arms is a medium sized pub that “on my last few visits” has been lacking in the customer department. The last time I visited at four thirty on Sunday afternoon there was only one other customer in the pub, besides my party. Reasons for this may include the fact that pub does not seem the cleanest of watering holes due to the fact that all the upholstered seat covers seem discoloured and give the impression that they are dirty.

I am not sure if they had any cask ales on offer as I opted for the easy to keep “fizzy bitter” because I thought “if the beer pipes are like the seats then I don’t fancy the cask ale” It was drinkable and clear.

The pub itself is open plan and has a TV and pool table.

What a difference a year makes! Having just undergone a total refurbishment The Farmers Arms has improved everything about itself 100%. The pub has been gutted and decorated and is now a clean a pleasant place to drink.

There are three TV's situated around the pub for those interested in watching any sports that happen to be on Sky and the pool table has been removed.

The new licensee has started to provide food from a well priced menu, but the most important thing of all, the beer is wonderful. They had two cask ales on the last few times I visited (Bass and Worthington’s) and both were clear and tasted great. I just hope the new people in charge keep up the good work.
